STRATEGIC

People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

Personalized Strengths Insights

What makes you stand out?

Driven by your talents, you have no difficulty finding the right words to express your ideas. You are quite comfortable talking about ways to make people or things more complete, perfect, or excellent. By nature, you normally find just the right words at the right moment to express whatever you are thinking and feeling. Many people are likely to appreciate your fine speaking abilities. You can present your ideas in a reasonable, sequential, and methodical way. Moreover, you generate lots of options for others to consider. It's very likely that you are likely quite adept -- that is, talented, skilled, and knowledgeable -- with language. You can express your ideas and feelings with ease. You typically rely on words or phrases your teammates readily understand. Because of your strengths, you automatically generate numerous ways to enhance, upgrade, revise, correct, or revamp a process, action plan, or itinerary. Your suggestions often influence how a project will unfold in the coming months, years, or decades. You tend to find fault with your own and even other people's talents, skills, and/or knowledge. Fixing people or things ranks high on your favorite activities.

Ideas for Action:

You are likely to anticipate potential issues more easily than others. Though your awareness of possible danger might be viewed as negativity by some, you must share your insights if you are going to avoid these pitfalls. To prevent misperception of your intent, point out not only the future obstacle, but also a way to prevent or overcome it. Trust your insights, and use them to ensure the success of your efforts.

I call it contingency planning.  It may never happen - but you better know what path to follow if it does - as there may not be time for planning at that point.

Your strategic thinking will be necessary to keep a vivid vision from deteriorating into an ordinary pipe dream. Fully consider all possible paths toward making the vision a reality. Wise forethought can remove obstacles before they appear.

It's all about keeping ALL the plates spinning - or making a conscious decision to take one off the stick.

Make yourself known as a resource for consultation with those who are stumped by a particular problem or hindered by a particular obstacle or barrier. By naturally seeing a way when others are convinced there is no way, you will lead them to success.

While I don't seek this recognition, others have recognized it and sought me out.  While flattering, my biggest concern is that the insights I offer are indeed helpful to those who seek them.

Trust your intuitive insights as often as possible. Even though you might not be able to explain them rationally, your intuitions are created by a brain that instinctively anticipates and projects. Have confidence in these perceptions.

Sounds like - "Go with your gut instinct".  I've learned to trust that more and more over the years.

Make sure that you are involved in the front end of new initiatives or enterprises. Your innovative yet procedural approach will be critical to the genesis of a new venture because it will keep its creators from developing deadly tunnel vision.

That's where I like to be - not the bleeding edge - but the leading edge.  A mix of Innovator and Early Adopter - think of it as Medium Rare!
