Going Paperless...In All That We Do...With One Exception

Going "paperless".

 

I don't recall exactly when that started.

 

The early 2000's in earnest perhaps?

 

 

When we moved to Arizona (Corporate Relocation for both of us) and PHX Sky Harbor Airport America West Club and Seat 1D ( on fill in the blank airlines) became my "primary residence", I liked to have a paperback - or three - along for the endless jaunts across the skies.

 

I asked for recommendations from a book store manager - who mentioned Lawrence Block and in the same breath also mentioned he had several signed first editions worth hundreds of dollars!!??!!

 

Color me surprised and interested in hearing more!!

 

 

 

That launched us on a first edition collecting "spree" that lasted for about 8 years, and totalled more than 4,000 signed first editions!

 

As things got very busy in real estate the focus on collecting more books waned, we started "culling" the collection, and when the Amazon Kindle came out in late 2007, we shifted to that platform for personal reading.

 

We are now - and have been for years - completely paperless with regards to books we read (with a few sentimental exceptions).

 

We are now - and have been for years - completely paperless with regards to our real estate practice and documents (except when the Seller requests paper copies!).

 

The one exception referenced in the title of this post is our current mailpiece campaign.  Even with that - once we had done "in house" production, assembly, and shipping, we outsourced that entirely to West Press - only sending them an electronic file with shipping instructions.

 

And the 60+ boxes of paper with all sorts of things worth keeping (LOL) has dwindled to two - which will be dealt with soon.  All else has been scanned (if wanted), shredded and recycled.
