Something In The Air??

The following occurences are rare for me to encounter, yet encounter them I did two days in a row!

 

Yesterday I stopped by a local Costco to have their tire department check air pressure - which was showing low - and to fill them back up to "pressure".  I asked where they wanted me to park - which they indicated - however - there was a semi truck trailer parked - not blocking the destination - but parked so I would need to drive around it to get to where they wanted me to park. It was parked - and the driver was out of the vehicle.  Fine - I drove around it to the indicated area.  

 

 

"Oh you shouldn't have done that" said a voice from the depths of the garage bay...

 

"Shouldn't have done what?" I asked to the individual slowly emerging from the gloom...

 

"It was very dangerous to drive around the semi, someone could have been injured or damage done"...

 

"Oh really, then why did your fellow garage employee advise me to do what I did?"

 

"You musn't listen to him"...

 

Seriously?!

 

"Thank you for your input.  It would be helpful if you were all on the same page.  Perhaps orange cones should be placed to block off a "no drive" zone?"

 

The figure muttered slowly to themselves, backing away into the gloomy depths of the garage, not to be seen again, and the first person I had spoken with cheerfully checked and filled the tires.

 

Turn to today.  

 

Hopefully everyone knows the difference between No Parking, No Standing and No Stopping zones.  

 

Parking means the vehicle is parked, and the driver is away from the vehicle.

 

I was stationary in a "No Parking" zone - but the engine was running, the flashers were on, and I was in the driver's seat waiting for Suzanne to come out of the store.

 

A golf cart pulls up next to me.

 

"No parking here" said the security guard.

 

"Agreed" I said - pointing at the sign - "That's what it says"

 

"You must park over there".

 

"No thanks - I have no interest in parking - I'm happy to stay right here - since the sign does NOT say No Stopping or No Standing"

 

"If my wife were in the store, I would park over there - why won't you?" 

 

"Let me give this another whirl - I don't want to park, there is no requirement to park, and there is no prohibition against stopping or standing at this location"

 

"You can't park here"

 

"Yes - we are on the same page there - how else can I help you?"

 

"You must park over there".

 

"So we are back to that refrain again - are we?"

 

This went on for a few minutes in much the same vein...until he finally decided that discretion was the better course of action...and off he tootled...only to park his cart, turn it off, and exit the vehicle further down the same "No Parking zone!!

 

Seriously??!!

 

Something in the Air??!!
