CRS - Sooner than later

If I had known then what I know now....

People just getting started in the business often ask - what's the best training to pursue right now.  Conventional wisdom steers them to ABR and/or GRI.  While these are excellent designations to pursue, the number of classes required for the GRI is somewhat daunting.

I suggest getting involved with CRS immediately.  Even though there is a significant production requirement, the knowledge gained from the CRS courses helps get your business up to speed even more quickly than the ABR or GRI - a jump start if you will.

e-PRO is great for an overview of technology integration into real estate, and counts as an elective for ABR.

Plan a training/education strategy, and attend classes outside your market area to maximize networking opportunities.  As your business grows you'll find less and less time for education.

Right on the Money! Again :)

My goal is to obtain my CRS designation this year. I've already met the production level and I am registering this month to begin with the classes. I have also received an application to submit this week. Thanks for the reassurance! I hear so many agents complain that designations are not "worth it" or the "way to go." I've even witnessed agents "sneer," laugh or ridicule other agents when they hear of them trying to better themselves via this route. Well, where are these same agents? Struggling for business. Some of them are still complaining and others have just plain quit.

Ironically, these are the same agents who refuse to invest in their business. They don't recognize the power of a branded website, networking (not NET-taking), farming, implementing technology, and giving back to their community. Your post makes me glad that I have selected the path to success. Thanks Again. By the way, I'm sure you will continue to prosper...as you are always willing to provide a wealth of information!

Jaclyn - Thanks for the comment and congratulations on taking the next step to get the CRS.  The classes are excellent - and if you take any of them "on the road" it's a great networking opportunity!

I know the designation will be nice to have but what I'm looking forward to is the additional training and information.  What a perfect time right now to get that training in.  Thanks for the push and advice!
