I was speaking with a colleague this afternoon. She has been considering leaving her current office, to go out on her own as a broker. One of the main concerns she has, is losing the traditional office environment. The office provides her with camaraderie, answers to difficult questions, marketing ideas, and the occasional referral.
My suggestion is that she try blogging on Activerain for a few months. Our industry has changed dramatically over the past five to seven years, as the meteoric increase in internet activity and social networking has really made the world smaller. We can communicate with agents in other cities, other states, and other countries almost seamlessly. Traditional offices aren't a necessity for clients, particularly Generation Y. Why not look at a different way to do business?
Real estate has changed, never to go back to what we knew for decades. For instance, although I was in a strong traditional brokerage for years, I found myself coming to AR for answers in the last twenty four months. Instead of thirty agents, and only a maximum of ten at the office at one time; I had access to thousands here, and archived posts, with dozens of comments, that answered most of my questions. It was then, that I thought leaving a traditional brokerage was a realistic endeavor. After all, Activerain is 24/7.
Raincamps can be seen as replacement to conventions. And goodness knows the referrals are a great product of involvement o Activerain. Moreover, the seo that one gets from AR over traditional brokerage, in that it markets the agent, rather than the company.
I'm eager to see what results, if any my colleague gets, if she decides to venture on to AR. While I won't say Activerain is a replacement for all agents, it has helped me keep many of the advantages of a traditional brokerage.
