Just In Case There Is ANY Confusion!!

There have been several posts in recent days regarding commissions, and splits, in the 'Rain - and a plethora (don't you just love that word!) of them over the years.

My understanding is that one has to be very cautious when having these "discussions" with other brokers  - mentioning specific numbers is a "no-no" at a Federal level (and please - this is not a "political" post - it's a "legal" post).

And one must be very, very careful of how one discusses the commission topic with Sellers - it's always negotiable - and to imply otherwise can result in a boatload of trouble IF someone files a complaint.

So I wasn't surprised to receive an email yesterday from the Arizona Association of REALTORS announcing a 6 hour, 6 credit, continuing education class, on the following topic:

Hi Tony Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers You are right, we must NEVER talk that way. All commissions are negotiable but I don't have to negotiate my fees. I can say "these are my fees" and they can take it or leave it, but I never say these are the standard fees.

I hope they take heed of your post.

Yes,  I love that word.  Yes, I've been reading those discussions here in the rain. That is all I have to say about that

Hi Tony.  Such treacherous waters talking about "standard commissions".  No such thing.
