From Zero To Rainmaker!

Bob Stewart mentioned in a response to a question in the Q&A (I believe) some time ago that Active Rain consistently has new sign ups every day - some more than other - but almost always in significant double digits.

Of those, I don't know how many opt to be a paid Rainmaker until they reach the magic 500,000 points mark, nor do I know what percentage really engage here in the 'Rain.

For those of you who are new to Active Rain, and intend to attain Rainmaker status by virtue of points, here are a few tips that may help you on your way.

First, understand the points system here in the 'Rain - here is a link to the Active Rain Point System

In a one week time period - which runs Monday through Sunday (supposed to be midnight to midnight if the clock is working correctly!) - you can earn:

2,250 points for 10 blog posts

3,500 points for 140 comments (20 per day max)

2,100 points for 140 answers in the Q&A (20 per day max)

7,850 points for the above three activities

Those are the "big hits" and if you do that consistently, and only that, then it will take you 64 weeks - or about 15 months - to hit the magic number.

There are other activities you can control to increase your daily points, far and away the most significant way is to Invite Others.  You can earn a whopping 5,000 points per day (250 points for 20 accepted invitations).  If you are able to hit the maximum in that arena, you will reach 500,000 points in about 39 weeks.

There are other activities which you don't "control" which can earn you additional points, such as another 'Rainer or 'Rainmaker choosing to "follow" you.

To make the largest impact, conventional wisdom would advise that you pay for a Rainmaker account so that the public can see your blog posts, resulting (hopefully) in them reaching out to you for your assistance.  Just one customer earned via Active Rain would more than cover the nominal cost of a paid Rainmaker account.

Most of all, I encourage you to enjoy your time in the 'Rain.  Some of us have been here for more than 10 years!

Good morning Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers, I average about a thousand points a day or around that.  I haven't missed one day in almost three years now.  Just slow and easy.

Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers - This is helpful information to think about ... I started on AR in June and I'm hovering around 90K points... I need a telescope to see 500K points waaaaayyy in the distance...

Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers - Great post about how to rack up points. But looking over the Q&A section today, I shake my head at those new "rainers"; do they figure they will rack up points with those "real estate test" questions? How about respect from the AR community and reaching the public with some well thought out blogs? And the latter you can only do by being a "rainmaker" - and cough up a few dollars rather than game the system. Sorry about the rant, but this morning it seems that almost every question was one of those.

I am amazed at those who do not pay for a Rainmaker account.  The value and benefit far out-weights the cost. It's a pretty good bang for the marketing dollar.

Tony and Suzanne - Thank you that is quite helpful. It's tough to figure out all the ins and outs of the program..!

Somehow I missed this post!  - I saw it on a reblog by Maria Sapio.  I am not taking advantage of the questions.  I did have a huge 30,000 point month in November.  It should take me at least 6 months less time to hit the 500K mark.

This is a great post, in many ways, with lots of encouragement for those who want to reach Rainmaker status, and beyond. But waiting to reach 500K poitns before becoming a Rainmaker makes no sense. I suspect many who join don't understand the value - this helps!

The problem is the couting system is totally messed up and those numbers are incorrect. I decided to check and their are times when points are not recorded.

I just may bookmark this and challange myself for January 2017.

Agree about the questions Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® - but the questioners only get 10 points for 1 question per day - more questions - no more points - thanks for stopping by with a comment!
