Maximizer

I was discussing various CRMs with Brian Brady at lunch yesterday, and Top Producer 7i and Salesforce.com got a lot of attention.  When doing research later in the day I came across "Maximizer".  I have not yet had a chance to dig into it in depth, nor does it appear to display pricing for their web based product - but it has rave reviews from the CRM gurus.

Has anyone out there used Maximizer 9 or Maximizer Enterprise 9.5 and if so could you share the "pros" and "cons" of these products versus other CRM databases you have used?

I've been exploring Maximizer this weekend.  I'm neither fish nor fowl in their "boxes".  I'm not a financial services client nor a real estate client so the templates are goofy.  Overall, it looks pretty good if I can figure out the right template.

I do like the document storage.

You are ahead of me on the research on this one....

I have used Maximizer since version 3.

My comment, I wouldn't use anything else.

First of all, there is no monthly cost as in Top Producer.

I have created a number of categories for my database. These can be applied to any company or individual.

My favorite thing to put in my calender is closings.

I especially like the special link the program uses to my Palm Treo 650. My contacts, appointments and notes go to my phone database.

The biggest problem I have is that I like the ability to make notes as I am on the phone so I hesitate to make phone calls until my database is open. (I have it on my laptop also.)  (I can also make notes on my Treo and update Maximizer when I Hotsync.)

When I write a letter, it is posted. When I want to create a mail list, I just choose the categories and do the mail merge.... to the base letter and to envelopes or labels.

I remain behind in my "to do" list because I have created so much follow-up. I can schedule when a letter is to be mailed or when a future phone call is to be made.

I have created some campaigns such as those I bought from Dave Beson.

There is a free download to try.

I'm considering using Maximizer myself, but I'm not an active agent. I have it on my site, as I am now a reseller for them. The reason I affiliated though, was not for sales to Real Estate agents, but to people who come to me from other fields. I didn't think it was very good for the MAJORITY of agents. It falls into the group of agents I describe in one of my posts as a "Type 1",  as follows:

"One way to pick a tool is to evaluate what kind of 'user' you will be.  I've worked with thousands of agents over the years, in the context of CRM.  Agents fall into two categories in the following respect:

1)  You are capable of, meaning you have a deep enough understanding of, how software works and interacts.  You pick up software very easily and enjoy 'playing' with it.  You have the imagination to be creative with it.  You will enjoy investing the time into tailoring the program to be just the way you want it.

2)  You should really have something that may not be quite as flexible, but that lesser flexibility makes it easier to learn because it comes already tailored to the needs of the vast majority of users. You do not want to invest the time into 'making' it do what you want it to do. You just want it to do it.

My experience tells me that the vast majority of agents fall into the latter category."

I thought I would give an update. I still make use of Maximizer 9 on an older XP computer. I forget what version they are on, but they are "cloud based" now and very proud of their product. They have priced themselves out of the market for my use. The fees are monthly now, $55 per month, and they gave me a quote over $1000 to convert my database to their new system. Bye bye to any upgrades from me.
