Database Guru Needed

Here is a question for the database gurus out there.

If you have two databases of contacts and Database 1 has basic contact information plus specific data elements for each contact, and Database 2 has basic contact information plus DIFFERENT specific data elements for each contact, AND there may some contacts in Database 1 that don't exist in Database 2 and vice versa:

Is there a way to merge the data so that the result is a SINGLE DATABASE, containing ALLthe contacts from Databases 1 and 2, with each contact having the specific data elements from Databases 1 and 2 in a single contact record?

It can be done manually - 1 by 1 - but the time involved is astronomical!

Make your database relational. I don't know what application you are presently using, maybe excel that uses flat tables? If so, upload your data to Access and add a Primary key and Foreign key. Use these keys to join your tables together then you can run queries

Tony -- What application are the two databases in?  Same or different?  What database do you want to end up?   It is very easy to merge cells and map them from one database to anther to create consistent data.  I used to do it all the time.

Both in .CSV / Excel.  Same format needed for merged db.  Is there a link to a process for doing this?

You should be able to merge them in Excel then and transfer them back to one file and back into your database program.

Todd - I'll see if I can find instructions in Excel - my concern is the different sizes of db and the overlap of entries being merged.
